I often advise clients that proper asset titling is one of the most important things with estate planning. I recently said, that having a Trust without the trust properly “funded” is like having an automobile without fuel. I think that message resonated as I received some positive feedback.
To further illustrate the importance of proper Trust Funding I will use a baseball analogy. To have a Trust that is not properly “funded” would be like Tim Wakefield throwing his famous knuckleball to a little league catcher. Unfortunately, its just not going to work out! The unfunded Trust, like the knuckleball not being caught will result in failure, losses and a very unhappy team or in your case a very unhappy family!
Like catching the tricky knuckleball, trust funding can be complex and tedious and should not be a Do It Yourself (DIY) job! It requires experience and a certain skill set.
